The keychain that was never there — how a childhood longing for a name on a spinning rack became the quiet foundation of Vaastav.
I must have been seven or eight the first time I really noticed it. We were at a rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I wandered over to the spinning rack of keychains the way every child does, scanning for my name. Ashley. Amanda. Brittany. Jennifer. Vinita was never there.
That quiet disappointment stayed with me longer than I understood, and followed me into adulthood every time I walked into a jewelry store looking for something that reflected my faith, my symbols, my prayers.
Years later, standing in a market in India, I came across a rack of keychains stamped with Indian names, Priya, Ananya, Deepak, Kavya, and something in me quietly exhaled.
That exhale became Vaastav. I make what I always wanted to find: jewelry that knows where it comes from, carries what it means, and lets you wear who you truly are.
